A big THANK-YOU to everyone involved with the Snake River Bluegrass Festival in Heyburn on August 8th, 2009. The weather was a little cool, but not every festival gets its own rainbow! Thanks to the performers: Gary Bench, Soles Rest, Marcus Meek & Hwy 30, Joshua Crosby & Lonesome Dove, and J.D. Webb & the Downstate Ramblers. Thanks to Gosner's for scooping ice cream. Thanks to corporate donors D.L. Evans Bank, DOT Foods, Boise Cascade, and the Upper Crust. Thank you to the city of Heyburn for their donations and the use of their wonderful park and facility. Thanks to the amphitheater Committee John Berglund, Brian Duncan, Earl Andrew, Deb Hopkins, and Chris James for their planning, organizing, and support. Thanks to Jeff Pool for providing the sound and Gary Bench for emceeing. I especially want to thank those hard-core bluegrass fans who stuck it out through the downpour and technical difficulties. The 30 or so people who stayed to the bitter end got a very intimate performance on stage with J.D. Webb who says it was one of the most fun shows this year. The people who stayed found out that as the weather got colder the music got hotter. It was one heck of a concert; we had ice cream, rain, wind, bluegrass, country, guitar strings breaking, banjo pickin', and a lot of fun. Look for other upcoming events on the community calendar of the Chamber of Commerce's website http://www.minicassiachamber.com.
